Q: What if I don’t like the service?
A: Satisfaction Guaranteed! We are so confident in our wireless system that if you are not 100% satisfied with our service, return your wireless equipment within 15 days of installation and we'll refund your equipment cost and you'll owe nothing more.
Q: Can I have more than one computer on this service?
A: Multiple Computer Use. High speed Wireless can be used on multiple computers within your home or business. A device known as a broadband router/switch can be purchased and installed that would help facilitate that. Most people will tend to run multiple computers on their wireless link with little to no loss of performance for each computer. High Desert Wireless Broadband Communications can provide the equipment necessary for Link sharing for an additional charge. If you have a router at the time of installation the setup is free.
Q: What makes your Wireless better then others?
A: Our wireless system is not based on the WIFI system, that anyone can buy at the local Electronics store. This fact is our first line of defense against hackers and spies. Moreover, our system uses a Polling method and not the standard Collision Detection used by others. This polling system is adaptive in that it allocates more time to those who are using it and less time to those who are away. WIFI gives every one the same amount of time. Also, WIFI uses 30% of it's bandwidth taken care of Collisions. By polling, we do not have to waste all this bandwidth. This means more for the end user.
Q: What type of speeds can I expect from my wireless connection?
A: The customer's connection to the Internet is dedicated, meaning the connection is always available, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. No busy signals, no waiting to get online, no download limits. You are always on, and always fast. There is no realistic comparison. Wireless is simply the fastest means of accessing the Internet. See chart below for appropriate speed usages
| Speed | Application |
| 144 kbps | An "always on" connection to support general Internet or corporate network usage for a small number of users and basic internet browsing. |
| 192 kbps | Fast email, file and Web transfers. |
| 384 kbps | Net meetings, video email and video cams. |
| 768 kbps | Web seminars, training, and ultra-fast transfer of large files. |
| 1.0 mbps | Streaming applications such as RealAudio, Real Video and Shockwave. |
| 1.5 mbps | Support of large branch office users on a LAN. |
Q: What is the range of your Wireless system?
A: The wireless system is can reach over 50 miles in radius from our access points. However to increase our UP time, we have limited them to a 5 mile radius.
Q: What do I need for Wireless connectivity to my house/business?
A: First, you must be within our support range and have line of site of our access system. If you are not with in range or you do not have line of site, you will not be able to use our wireless system. If you are in range and have line of site, you will need a roof antenna, a microwave control head, an Ethernet cable and a power injector installed. Please see our install prices that cover the parts and labor to install OUR special equipment. This is a one-time charge.
Q: What technology do you use in you wireless system?
A: The wireless signal is transmitted at 2.4, 5.2, & 5.8 Ghz. There is typically one base station in an area not more than 5 miles from any customer. Having several repeater sites within a community allows us to have dense coverage as well as redundancy for the area. Wind and weather do not typically effect your ability to surf. The technology is line-of-sight, which means you will need to be within sight of an antenna. With multiple sites your antenna can point to you get both redundancy of a connection and higher probability of excellent line-of-sight. You do not have to be within visual sight, just radio sight as we are capable of going in excess of 40 miles!
Q: How do we do it?
A: HDWBC owns its own network. We're wireless. We're not beholden to the Phone Company. Unlike wire line providers, we do not have to rent wires from the Phone Company. Unlike wire line providers, we do not have to wait for the phone company to run and activate any wire. Unlike wire line providers, we pass the savings to you and we install without delay.
